In the Modern Languages Department we aim to provide a vibrant and stimulating environment in which our pupils can learn both French and Spanish. They are offered the opportunity to visit France and Spain where they can put their language skills to the test. Careers

The world of work is undergoing major change with old jobs disappearing and new opportunities becoming available largely due to the impact of technology and the global market. With these facts in mind we believe that an effective careers and guidance programme is even more crucial for our young people. This view point is clearly supported by CCEA as we see Education for Employability at the heart of the revised Northern Ireland Curriculum and with the new CEIAG guidelines from the Department of Education. The aims of the department have been adapted to meet these new requirements.

Performing Arts

Performing Arts

Performing Arts is a growth industry in Northern Ireland. This course gives students opportunities to research and gain insights into the industry, engage with effective practice and prepare for employment, further training and/or study. The specification offers a wide range of skills in both performance and production. The teacher acts as facilitator in helping students develop their chosen skills within a prescribed discipline chosen from; dance, drama, music, choreography, design, direction, stage management or technical (lighting or sound). Performing Arts is an applied qualification in which students develop knowledge, understanding and skills through practical demonstration.

Media Studies

Media Studies is a popular and successful subject in the College, and is available at GCSE (Single Award and Double Award options) and AS/A2 level. The key skills at all levels include; Knowledge and understanding of the media, Analysis of media products, and Media Production. The department is well equipped, with a modern iMac suite and a range of digital cameras and video cameras to suit both beginners and more advanced users.
