Performing Arts

Performing Arts

Performing Arts is a growth industry in Northern Ireland. This course gives students opportunities to research and gain insights into the industry, engage with effective practice and prepare for employment, further training and/or study. The specification offers a wide range of skills in both performance and production. The teacher acts as facilitator in helping students develop their chosen skills within a prescribed discipline chosen from; dance, drama, music, choreography, design, direction, stage management or technical (lighting or sound). Performing Arts is an applied qualification in which students develop knowledge, understanding and skills through practical demonstration.

Home Economics is a subject through which many skills are developed, particularly the practical skills involved in preparing and cooking food. Sociology

The study of Sociology focuses on contemporary society and provides an awareness of the importance of social structure in explaining social issues. Students are encouraged to develop their own sociological awareness through active engagement with the contemporary world. The specification is designed to encourage students to acquire an understanding of social change; understand the research process within Sociology; and to develop a lifelong interest in social issues.
