WCB Chess Club was started by Mr McCann (Classroom Assistant) and meets Room 309 at Lunchtimes. The Chess Club has been very successful with over 50 members playing at different times each week. Over the year WCB Chess Club had two competitions this year, the themes were “Pokémon Go” and “Star Wars” which were developed by Mr McCann in order to break down the image of chess, as being a very difficult game played only by super intelligent people. WCB Chess Club is a fun and friendly environment where students can play and develop their chess playing skills as well as meeting new friends.
Out of a field of 50 who entered the competitions the following students had the most points at the end of the competition. The more pieces you won of your opponent during each game, the more points you gained. If you won a game you also received a further bonus 20 points for achieving Check Mate.
Each player had to record their scores on their score sheets for both competitions. Each week there were extra bonus points to be gained. The winners were the players with the highest scores at the end.
